YEARS 7 - 11 Forest Academy Engagement Course

(Attending 1/2 or 1 day a week - for a year)

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for all learners who are more vocationally focused and may not be accessing full time curriculum provision. The course is intended to build confidence and motivation and introduce learners into effective team working skills using bushcraft and forest skills.

What activities will the do?

The course is a practical course based on our Forest School programme.


Pupils will gain confidence, social and communications skills through various practical outdoor activities such as*:


  • Shelter building


  • Camp fires


  • Cooking skills


  • Water Purification


  • Mar Reading Skills


  • Compass Skills


  • Woodcraft skills


  • Team building skills


  • Plants and wildlife


  • First Aid Training




* Course content will vary depending on course attendance option taken.


Additional course Information

  • Learning will take place at North Wales Training’s Kinmel centre.
  • They will be required to bring a packed lunch.
  • PPE will be supplied.
